First peal as conductor.
Rung in commemoration of Richard Massey, who succumbed whilst ringing and conducting, with about 20 minutes to go, in an attempt for a peal at the above named church, November 30th, 1921.
Second attempt by the band, the 9th rope breaking after two hours and fifty minutes on November l5th, 1933.
This peal was also a compliment to Sarah Livesey and John Bolton, who were married on Easter Saturday.

Burton, one of the local ringers and secretary of the Walkden branch of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, who was recently made a Serving Brother of the Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, the honour being conferred upon him by the Sub-Prior, the Earl of Scarborough, at St. John's Gate, London, on the previous day.
