This peal was run by Middleton ringers in honour of Dr. Parsons, Rector of Birch-in-rusholme, who on January 25th last was consecrated Bishop of Middleton, a previous attempt on that date at Middleton having failed. The ringers wish to think the Bishop of the use of the bells, and also the Birth ringers for having everything ready for them.

Rung to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first peal by the association, which was rung at the above church. Mr Henry W Jackson, the captain at that church , is the only survivor of the band ,and is still a regular ringer. The peal was also a birthday compliment to a former church officer Mr. J W Sharples, who has generously given a four-dial clock for the tower of this church.
