For VE Day
St. Thomas' was the only church in the Monmouth Diocese to suffer bomb damage during WWII. The Church was rebuilt/repaired out of reparations fund.
After WWII the bells were deemed unringable due to the explosion weakening the tower. However in the 1980s, with the late Rev. Peter Cobb and John Evans, an architectural engineer who worked on the Severn Bridge, got them ringing again.
