Rung immediately before the funeral of Alf Charles. Alf was a Cowbridge, Llanblethian and St Hilary ringer for many decades, we don’t think he ever rang a QP let alone a peal but was a faithful Sunday service and practice night ringer who was an accurate striker even being commended on the accuracy of his tenor ringing at a competition on one occasion.
We will miss his smile.

First quarter peal on the bells since rehanging and refurbishment plus the addition of sound control and an electronic chiming mechanism by Nicholson Engineering. This was all thanks to a generous bequest from Miss Olwen Allis, a former parishioner. We would also like to associate this quarter with Revd Jon Ormrod, the former priest-in-charge at Sully who is now at Worle in Somerset and who really got behind this project.

Ringing before and after the Service of Prayer and Reflection for the Life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This was the Welsh National Service of Remembrance in the presence of His Majesty King Charles III and the Queen Consort. The service was in Welsh and English using the 1588 William Morgan bible on loan from the National Library of Wales. The ringing included our senior member aged 92 and our newest recruit. The singing of Cwm Rhondda and the Welsh National Anthem was particularly loud and patriotic.
