A former Master of the Llandaff and Monmouth, and former secretary of the Llandaff branch, he died on 5 April 2009. He was instrumental in founding the CGS ringing society, and in 1963 he and the ringers of 3 and 4 rang in the first peal on Llanblethian bells.
