'The “three blows” in sixths place is symbolic of the three emblems of Wales. The “Welsh Dragon” was introduced by the Romans as a military ensign. The origin of the “Welsh leek” is lost in legend but is associated with St David and with even earlier use as a druidic symbol. The “daffodil” is a more recent symbol popularised by Lloyd George who wore it on St David’s Day. Bill Thompsett always thought of Wales as God’s chosen country and it is appropriate this method was rung in his memory. First peal in the method. The annual Barmouth Christmas peal. Offa’s Dyke created a great brittonic enclave. Whilst elsewhere the Anglo-Saxons pushed their conquests forward the nature of the Welsh countyside, the number of their inhabitants and their ferocity in war preserved a unique culture whereby the Welsh kingdom formed an essential unity. This realisation fostered the name of Cymru, “comrades”, which became the Welsh people’s own name for themselves. Another “sterling” tenor performance by “Tony” and our thanks to Stephen for his assistance in researching this place notation. An excellent method, with all the full flavour of that “iconic” method “Barmouth Surprise Major”. Where will this be rung again?
