Ringing the method was very pleasurable and to assist any would-be conductors try pronouncing it “Mak-unthleth”, that way you should get
into changes with minimum of fuss! Machynlleth is historically interesting. It was here in 1402 that Owen Glyndwr held his first Welsh
parliament.
Rung as a compliment to Herbert Fearn, tower captain here from 1948 to 2004, an achievement that is likely to stand unsurpassed for many years.
First peal in the method.

The tenor ringer has now circled the tower.
The Annual Barmouth Christmas peal by members of the L&M DA. The tenor ringer is believed to hold the record for the fastest peal of Surprise Major on the bells.
Strata Florida Abbey was a magnificent building and has been described as the “Westminster Abbey of Wales” and was constructed in 1184 for Cistercian monks. The site was more significant than Tintern Abbey but like so many buildings was brought to an end by Henry VIII on the dissolution of the monasteries.
“Strata Florida” is a latinized form of “Ystrad Fflur” and means the “plain of the bloom”
First peal in the method.
