A doubles variation

This is step 2 in the blue pathway.

This can be any doubles variation. Some of the more popular doubles variations are:

  • Old Doubles* – Plain Bob rung with an Old single
  • April Day – Plain Bob rung with a Grandsire single
  • Clifford’s Pleasure – Reverse Canterbury rung with a Grandsire single
  • Kennington – Plain Bob rung with a Reverse Canterbury bob
  • Southrepps – Reverse Canterbury rung with a Plain Bob bob
  • May Day – Plain Bob rung with a Pink’s single

But you’re not limited to these six. More doubles variations can be found on pages 26–7 of the 2020 Ringing World diary, and in the resources below.

* Some people consider an Old single to be the standard single for Plain Bob Doubles and therefore do not recognise Old Doubles as a separately named variation. For the purpose of the 2020 pathways, Old Doubles is allowed as a variation.
