BellBoard

On the weekend of the 12th and 13th of October 2024 the friends and family of Colin Wheeler congregated in Northumberland to celebrate his 80th birthday. On the Saturday there was a quarter peal at Morpeth by a mainly a family band, including Colin’s grandson Harry ringing his first quarter peal. On the Sunday there was general ring at Rothbury attended by people who have known Colin over the last 40 years through bell ringing in Morpeth and Rothbury, as well as his family. This was a surprise event for Colin organised by the local ringers, Chris Teasdale and Tanya Walker. Many of those in the tower on Sunday were taught by Colin and a very appropriate bell shaped birthday cake was cut and shared.
