Alistair's Lundy Tour
14th – 21st March 2022
After the storms of recent weeks Alistair and 15 friends couldn’t believe their luck that the weather on arrival at Hartland International was sunny, calm and warm. The views from the helicopter ware stunning and gave just an inkling of the week ahead. Alistair had put together a busy programme which included several methods with Lundy connections, so that many of us were seen studying our homework; but this was alongside some more familiar methods that enabled personal goals to be achieved and learning to be consolidated, together with some practice sessions for the least experienced group member. Alongside all the ringing there was time to explore the island in the continuing superb weather conditions, and for some to try “letter boxing” - the excitement peaked when the rabbit stamp was found. The accommodation in Millcombe, Castle Keep and Hanmers was excellent, and the Marisco Tavern plus the General Stores provided us with good meals, beer and supplies. There were two wonderful evenings spent ‘At Home’ in Millcombe where the whole group thoroughly enjoyed Janet’s home cooking. So much to see and do here on Lundy that it is easy to see why so many people are drawn to return to this amazing small island again and again. A massive thank you to Alistair and Janet, and all the rest of the group for such a wonderful time. Joan 21/3/22.
