Association of Ringing Teachers — Teaching Course - Module 1- Lanteglos by Camelford, Cornwall

09:15 – 17:00 BST Saturday, 30th April 2022

Tutored by Les Boyce, and taking place at Lanteglos by Camelford, this is Module 1 of the ART Training Scheme, teaching bell handling.

Course places are £20 and can be requested through ART’s online events booking site here:

https://events.bellringing.org/events/courses/teaching-course-module-1-template-2

Suitable for those who already teach bell handling and want to update their skills but also for those who have never taught anyone to handle a bell, Module 1 provides teachers with the skills and techniques necessary to take a ringer from their first lesson to having competent bell control.

Course delegates will learn through a mixture of practical and classroom sessions: how to break down bell handling into easy stages that the new ringer can master; about different learning types and how to adapt your teaching for them; the benefits of intensive teaching.

The practical sessions provide plenty of time to practise new teaching skills in a safe environment. Working in pairs offers the opportunity to hone observation skills and get feedback on giving feedback.

After the course, it’s really helpful for delegates to start teaching as soon as possible, by putting teaching skills into practice straight away, it’s easier to remember what was learned and to build teaching confidence.
