Devon QP Weekend

1st – 4th October 2021

It all started when Anne was talking to her brother Alistair about her researches into our maternal heritage, the Hawkers and Brooks, both from the County of Devon. Our Great Great Grandfather Revd John Manley Hawker was Rector of Ideford near Newton Abbot, and later served at Berrynarbor near Ilfracombe. A generation later our grandparents Manley Hawker and May Brook were married at Berry Pomeroy near Totnes. We wanted to commemorate them, so, as it is a long way to Devon for just 2 QPs, Alistair hatched a plan for a long weekend QP tour of the area. The tour was delayed many times by Covid, but finally we were all able to meet up. Thanks to all those who supported us, to the Incumbents for allowing us to ring, and the local ringers for meeting us and generally making it all possible. Alistair & Anne Donaldson
