Robert Wellen in conversation with Will Bosworth about his Dorset roots, his life, his ringing and his work as Editor of The Ringing World.

Robert Wellen has been Master of the Salisbury Diocesan Guild of Ringers since 2015. He lives in Gillingham in north Dorset. He has rung since a teenager and has rung over 1500 quarter peals. He has a lifelong interest in history and a Masters degree in the subject from Lancaster University.

Will Bosworth has been Editor of The Ringing World since November 2019. He learnt to ring in Blandford Forum, Dorset as a child, did too much during his time as a music student in Birmingham, and rang with the band at Great St Mary’s in Cambridge when he was there as a doctoral student. He now lives in Peterborough, where he sings in the Cathedral Choir.

In this relaxed and informal ‘conversation’ Robert will be exploring with Will their local Dorset roots, how Will came to ringing, his ringing achievements and the challenges that he and his team face in producing this quality magazine for church bell ringers in the British Isles and overseas. The ‘audience’ will be invited to unmute and have ‘cameras on’ to create the atmosphere of a ‘live event’ and there will be the chance to ask Will questions and for Will to ask some questions of his own!

The event will NOT be recorded.

This event is being held as part of the ‘Guild Festival’ day of the Salisbury Diocesan Guild of Ringers, so members of that Guild will be most welcome as well as other ringers and interested parties from outside of the Guild.

A ‘Just Giving‘ page has been set up for donations to the Guild’s bell restoration fund to be given in appreciation: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lebrf-sdgr-virtual-festival-2021
