In memory of Airman 1st Class Harold Edward Ladd, a ringer at this tower, who was killed in the Great War 100 years ago today. He is commemorated at Chatby memorial, Egypt, and on the village war memorial outside the west door of this church. He was the brother of Ernest J Ladd, who taught the conductor to handle a bell. He also taught Ann Jenner, who would like to be associated with this quarter: she was prevented from ringing due to indisposition.
