First Quarter Peal on tower bells for the Guild since its re-inception by a band entirely resident in the area of the Guild's operation.
The ringer of the Tenor learnt to ring under the instruction of his Grandfather, Highwood Smith Humphery who was Captain of New Romney for over 50 years, and Vernon has recently returned to ringing as a member of the local band at New Romney having not rung since 1968.
This performance was rung immediately following a buffet lunch in the church after the final service of the Romney benefice for Rev Martin Dale. He and Maddy are moving to Leicestershire. The Guild wishes to thank Maddy for her enormous contribution to its activities during her time with us, including holding the Office of Master this year. She and Martin will be sorely missed. Also to thank Martin for his services as our Guild President, and to welcome Rev. John Cowling of Burmarsh as the new President of the Guild.
