A long peal at Painswick (Gloucester Journal, Mon. 30 Sept. 1816; extract kindly provided by John Eisel)
Change Ringing.— On Monday last, a complete peal of Grandsire Cators, 10,278 changes, was boldly struck and nobly brought round, in their church-tower, by the Society of Painswick Youths, in six hours and 48 minutes. And, on the 31st. ult the same Society completed a peal of Bob Major Royal, of 5000 changes, in three hours and 17 minutes.
