Rung to mark the illumination of the Hull Solar Gate panel for John Venn (1834 - 1923) and the publication of The Logic of Chance in 1866. Venn was born in Hull and has one of the two original Hull University buildings in his name. Drypool bridge was decorated with Venn diagrams in 2017 when Hull was the UK City of Culture.
