For Choral Evensong. Rung in memory of the Alresford men who died in WW1 during March 1918 - Lance Corporal James Mac Benham who died in the trenches on March 21st. His name is recorded on the Pozieres memorial in France - Lieutenant Kingsley Baker MC was severely wounded whilst acting as forward observing officer on the Western Front and died from his wounds on March 30th. For his action he was awarded the Military Cross. He is buried in the Abbeville Cemetry, Somme, France.
