Specially arranged and rung by the local band to celebrate the completion of the major restoration of the Church Organ which dates from circa 1870s. The instrument is largely un-altered since it was first installed and features a very rare ‘Gamba Solo’ stop which is of considerable historic interest. When the organ was dismantled a newspaper was found lining the bellows dating from 1871.
This quarter was rung immediately prior to the celebratory Organ Recital with special quests being John G Campbell, Dean’s Verger at Lincoln Cathedral and Paul Hale, Organist at Southwell Minster for 27 years, now Organist Emeritus at Southwell and Organ adviser for the dioceses of Southwell & Lincoln, who has advised and been closely involved in the Organ’s restoration.
Rung with the bells fully muffled for Lent.
(No. 369) (Rung also for the Lincoln Diocesan Guild)
