Private James Arthur Banks, Helmshore, Lancashire. Died age 19 on October 19th 1917. Kings Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). He worked as a warehouse lad in a cotton mill before enlisting. Private Banks rang with the Helmshore band. His father James Henry Banks was ringing secretary of the Lancashire Association. Private Banks went to France in September 1917 and moved to Belgium front about 14 days before his death. He was killed instantaneously by a shell on his 5th day in the trenches.
