Rung in memory of Serjeant Edward Pius Bendix, Royal Field Artillery, a ringer at this tower, who was killed in action, aged 25, on 13th October 1917 near Ypres in Belgium and is buried at Larch Wood (Railway Cutting)Cemetery.

Their name liveth for evermore.
