For st George's Day, and in memory of Lance Corporal Edward Arden Hulme, a ringer at this church, killed in action on 1st February 1917 aged 22 years. He served in the Cheshire Regiment, 8th Battalion, and is commemorated at the Basra Memorial in Iraq.
