Rung with the bells half muffled in memory of the following five Lincoln men killed in the Great War during March 1917. Specially rung to commemorate the centenary of their deaths, We will remember them.
ALBERT WALLHEAD, Private 5303, 13th Hussars. Killed in action in Mesopotamia 5th March 1917.
JOHN ROBERT SKELTON, Private 241396, 2nd/5th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 12th March 1917.
FREDERIC EDWARD BASIL MAKINS, Private 25845, "C" Company, 6th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died 15th March 1917, aged 25.
SYDNEY JAMES HODGES, Private 36037, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Died of wounds 23rd March 1917.
JOSEPH HAROLD CHRISTIAN PORTAS, Ordinary Seaman J/27954, HMS "Q36", Royal Navy. Killed or died as a direct result of enemy action 30 March 1917, aged 19.

Honourable age does not depend on length of days, nor is the number of years a true measure of life.
They are all commemorated on the City War Memorial on the High Street.
