Rung half muffled in memory of Private Arthur James Knights recorded in the Roll of Honour for Bell Ringers as having been a Norton Subcourse ringer and a member of the Norwich Diocesan Association.
He died on 26/02/1917 aged 23 years. Norfolk Regiment 2nd Bn. Service No. 14381. Commemorated at Amara War Cemetery, Iraq, Grave XXIX B 57/66. Born 09/08/1893. Son of James Knights and Emma Knights (nee Bacon) of Low Road, Thurlton. One of 6 children. He worked as a farm labourer before enlisting. Born, Thorpe Next Haddiscoe, Norfolk. Enlisted Norwich, Norfolk. Resided ( 1911 Census) Low Road, Thurlton, nr Loddon.
He was one of 21 ringers that are known to have died in February 1917 during the Great War.
